Trinidad Carnival

Trinidad Carnival, or at least Carnival the way we see it. In many ways, Carnival represents the release of the Id: a relinquishing of control from the Superego. It is a cultural adaptation of expression of a psychologically repressed slave society. Trapped somewhere within the chaos and the madness lies the executive self, taking a backseat to revelry on this day. Within the chaos and the madness, there is an island of stillness.
All photographs shot on film with the exception of "watch we palance". Each image is dispayed for 10 seconds. Click on any image for a larger view.
